Couple activities in Singapore

The short answer

You can fill a whole evening around Marina Bay for under $30 for two, plus dinner. Start with a 25-minute game of floor is lava at Marina Square ($26 for two on weekdays), eat in the mall, then walk to a free show: Spectra at Marina Bay Sands, Garden Rhapsody at Gardens by the Bay, or a weekend performance at the Esplanade.

We run Lava Floor, which is the first idea on this list. The shows and places after it are free and run by other people; we link to where we checked the details.

The ideas, one by one

1. Play floor is lava together

Green tiles are safe, blue tiles clear the level, red is lava, and you share the same lives. It's 25 minutes of shouting directions at each other, which tells you a lot about a person. A room is yours alone, and duos are welcome. $13 each on weekdays, $17 on weekends and public holidays.

2. Do an escape room next door

Our partner Lockdown runs escape rooms in the same unit at Marina Square, from $24 a person on weekdays and $30 on weekends and public holidays, for a 60-minute game. Rooms take 2 to 8 players.

3. Catch a free show at the Esplanade

The Esplanade puts on free performances at its DBS Foundation Outdoor Theatre every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holiday, and there's a free performance at the Esplanade Concourse most evenings. It's a short walk from Marina Square.

4. Watch Spectra at Marina Bay Sands

A free 15-minute light and water show over the bay at the Event Plaza. In 2026 it runs at 8pm and 9pm from Sunday to Thursday, with an extra 10pm show on Friday and Saturday. Walk there across the Helix Bridge.

5. Watch Garden Rhapsody at Gardens by the Bay

The Supertrees light up to music for 15 minutes at 7.45pm and 8.45pm daily. Free, no booking.

6. Walk the Marina Bay waterfront

From the Esplanade along the water and over the Helix Bridge is one of the best free walks in the city, and it links most of this list together.

7. Have dinner at Marina Square

The mall has plenty of places to eat. Book your game first so dinner doesn't eat into it, because there's no food or drink in the lava rooms.
